Format will challenge Canadian men and women

The beach volleyball competition at the Olympics will challenge our Canadian teams who have not fared well in this format. Known as a modified double elimination, this format features six pools of four teams each playing within their pool to determine the 16 teams that will make the single elimination playoff round. The 16 will be made up of the top two in each pool and then the four next highest team in terms of games won and points.

Heese and Child are destined to be in a tough pool given they come into the event ranked 24th out of 24 teams but they've shown that they can overcome adversity at past Olympics
